Tam's passion for body adornment and design is a defining feature evident in her ceramics. Her extensive background in the arts allows for exploration and experimentation into various mediums and techniques to create one-of-a-kind pieces.
Tam's journey in the arts began when she earned a Bachelor of Visual Arts with a major in Gold and Silversmithing from the Queensland College of Art in the early 1990s. Her passion for jewellery design led her to explore Henna design, which she pursued for many years as a Henna Artist. Naturally, this experience led to a more permanent form of body art—tattooing, which has become a channel for Tam's love of ornamental art and unique design elements.
For Tam, the act of creating a tangible form from the earth using her hands and heat is a magical and meaningful process—one that grows ever more rewarding as she continues to learn and refine her craft. Her pieces reflect this, with organic elements that reflect the source material; shapes and patterns of the earth.
Tam offers private one-on-one sessions, teaching the basics of throwing on the wheel, trimming, hand-building, sgraffito techniques, and more. Reach out if you’re seeking guidance building your own vessels.
Fern Gully Studio is nestled in the heart of the Sunshine Coast hinterland. It is where Tam creates stunning and functional art, meticulously handcrafted from start to finish. Each piece is truly original, and the whole process is a labour of love.
Great care is taken to ensure your item is packaged to avoid breakages in transit. In the event that your item is damaged upon arrival a refund will be issued or a replacement if you'd prefer. Please send photographic evidence of the breakage within 24 hours of delivery to receive this refund or replacement.
